Despite a tough three-week stretch, the Mineral Wells Rams still control their playoff destiny heading into the final week of the regular season. A win Friday at home against Burkburnett would secure the Rams the fourth playoff seed from District 3-4A. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Rams showed improvement last week in a 35-30 loss to playoff-bound Eagle Mountain. Mineral Wells enters the matchup 3-6 overall and 1-3 in district play.
A major boost for the Rams has been the return of starting quarterback Brogan Sims, who missed much of the season with an ankle injury. After getting back into action against Graham, Sims found his rhythm last week, throwing for 284 yards and three touchdowns.
Jaidun Fisher hauled in 156 receiving yards and two scores, while Javon Johnson added 100 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Burkburnett comes in 1-8 overall and 1-3 in district play, making this a true win-and-in scenario for Mineral Wells.
