The Lady Rams closed out play in their own tournament over the weekend with positive momentum, continuing to build confidence as the season moves deeper into December.

Mineral Wells enters the week with an 8-6 record after rebounding from a tough loss to Bridgeport earlier in the week. The Lady Rams opened tournament play with a victory over Llano, setting the tone for a productive weekend on their home floor. With that event now complete, Mineral Wells will enjoy the first half of the week off before returning to action Friday with a road matchup at Newcastle.

On the boys side, the Rams also showed encouraging signs while competing in the Godley Tournament. Mineral Wells picked up tournament wins over Grandview and Sunnyvale, the latter coming in overtime. During that stretch, the Rams won three of four games to move to 7-6 on the season.

One of the key contributors has been football crossover Jaiden Fisher, who has transitioned seamlessly into basketball season. Fisher currently leads the team in scoring, averaging nearly 11 points per game and providing an athletic presence on both ends of the floor.

The Rams return to regular-season play this week with a road game Tuesday at Alvarado before hosting Gainesville on Friday.

Off the court, Mineral Wells is also beginning to see clarity regarding its future classification. With an enrollment of 894 students, it is all but certain the Rams will remain in Class 4A Division II for the upcoming UIL realignment cycle. The UIL is expected to officially announce classification cutoff numbers later this month, but Mineral Wells appears safely within the 4A Division II range.

As both programs continue to find their footing through the heart of the non-district schedule, the Rams are showing steady progress and setting a foundation for the district slate ahead.
