The Mineral Wells Rams boys basketball team showed some competitiveness last week but remains winless in District 6-4A play. The Rams fell 58-56 at Brownwood and 49-40 at Brock, leaving them 12-16 overall and 0-5 in league action. They’ll need a strong second half to remain in playoff contention, starting with a Tuesday trip to district leader Glen Rose, followed by a home game against Stephenville on Friday.

Lady Rams basketball also struggled last week, dropping 51-17 at No. 8 Brownwood and 59-33 at No. 3 Brock. Mineral Wells is 15-16 overall and 1-6 in district play. They travel to Glen Rose Tuesday and host Stephenville Friday.

Soccer kicks off district play Tuesday for both the boys and girls teams against Decatur. The Rams boys are 7-1, while the Lady Rams are 4-5-1 following a 3-0 loss to Brownwood last Friday. Friday’s boys match at Wichita Falls Memorial was canceled.

Monday will bring news from the University Interscholastic League, as Mineral Wells learns its district alignment for the next two years.
