A history-equaling playoff run for Mineral Wells baseball came to an end this past weekend in the Class 4A Division I Region I championship series.
The Rams fell to Amarillo West Plains in a hard-fought best-of-three matchup at Lubbock Cooper High School. Mineral Wells opened the series with a 2-1 victory Friday, but West Plains responded with wins of 3-1 and 7-0 on Saturday to claim the series. The Wolves relied on a strong pitching staff throughout the weekend.
Mineral Wells reached the regional finals for the second consecutive season, matching the program’s deepest postseason run since 1958. The Rams completed another successful spring campaign with a 23-14-2 record.
The conclusion of baseball season also marks the end of the 2025-26 athletics year for Mineral Wells. The Rams will now begin preparations for the 2026-27 season and a new district alignment following the UIL realignment announced in February.
