Both the Mineral Wells High School boys and girls soccer teams advance to the Class 4A Division I Region I playoffs this week. Postseason play begins Thursday, with both teams aware of their opponents.
The boys Rams will face Dumas, the No. 1 Division I seed from District 3-4A. Mineral Wells finished the regular season 11-6 overall and 3-5 in District 4-4A. Dumas entered the playoffs 12-5-7 overall and 7-1-6 in district play.
The Lady Rams earned their playoff berth with a 3-1 victory over Bridgeport on March 6. They closed the season at 7-11-1 overall and 2-6 in district action.
Mineral Wells’ girls soccer team will meet West Plains from Amarillo in a doubleheader at Lubbock Cooper High School Thursday. The girls game begins at 1 p.m., followed by the boys at 3 p.m. The Lady Wolves finished the season 15-9-3 overall and 7-4-3 in District 4-4A.
Mineral Wells baseball continues a busy week with games at North Crowley on Tuesday, hosting Decatur Friday, and traveling to Ferris Saturday. They enter the week 8-4-1.
The Lady Rams softball team, 16-3 overall, opens District 6-4A play Tuesday at Brock.
