
North Texas high school baseball is heating up as postseason draws closer, with several programs dominating their districts and making comebacks. Statements that are making a mark statewide.
Here are the NTX Varsity Sports’ top-five baseball teams to be on the lookout for:
Waxahachie Indians
The Indians lead the region and are ranked No. 5 in Texas with a 24-2 record. They are undefeated in district sitting at 8-0, carrying a team rating of 24.25 and a 9.5 strength metric, climbing one spot in the ranks compared to last week. Expect the Indians to remain a top contender in Texas as playoffs near.
Aledo Bearcats
The Bearcats are flying high, ranked No. 14 in Texas with a 24-4 overall record. They sit perfect in district at 6-0, powered by Wilson Sehnem who has stolen 11 bases this season. Along with Luke Gladchuk hitting an impressive .607 batting average. The team rating is 22.94 with a 10.8 strength score, highlighting their well-rounded lineup.
Brock Eagles
The Eagles have moved up six spots this week to rank 52nd in the state. With a 13-4 record and 3-0 in district. Their rating sits at 18.33 and a 10.1 strength metric makes them a squad to watch.
Boyd Yellow Jackets
The Yellowjackets enter this stretch with a 21-2 record, 6-2 in district and a 17.27 rating. They’re holding steady being ranked No. 75 in Texas.
Paradise Panthers
The Panthers round-out the list being ranked No. 50 in Texas D1. They are 6-0 in district and 19-5 overall. They have recently shook up some heavy hitter teams, making them a team capable of late season upsets and comebacks.
These North Texas programs combine strong hitting, speed and consistent pitching. This makes them key teams to watch as postseason and playoffs approach.
