PARADISE – The Paradise High School baseball team shut it down early Friday night, rolling past the previously undefeated and No. 1‑ranked Boyd Yellowjackets with a 10‑0 run‑rule victory in the bottom of the fifth inning at Panthers Field. This marked the second consecutive win over Boyd in the young season and the first time the Panthers have beaten the Yellowjackets twice this year.
Coming into the matchup, Boyd carried a 19‑0 record and top ranking in Texas, riding one of the state’s most dominant streaks. Paradise’s win on Tuesday, March 24, snapped that undefeated run with a 7‑1 victory in a District 10‑3A showdown for an at-home game for Boyd.
On Friday, Paradise wasted no time asserting control, being back on their own field. The Panthers’ offense produced early runs and never looked back, prompting a five‑inning mercy rule finish. The 10‑0 score ended the second game early under Texas high‑school baseball’s run‑rule format.
The sweep of such a highly touted club is a milestone for Paradise’s program, which has steadily built momentum this spring. It also represents one of the largest margins of victory over Boyd this season, underscoring a significant competitive shift in the 10‑3A district race.
Boyd High School, located in Wise County and classified as a UIL Class 3A school, has a strong baseball tradition, including a state championship in 2023.
With the Panthers now holding both wins in the rivalry series, Paradise enters the next stretch of district play with confidence and a growing reputation as a contender.
