PONDER – It was a dramatic district showdown Tuesday night as the Paradise Panthers boys and girls basketball teams faced off against the Ponder Lions, with both Panther squads pulling out last-minute victories in front of a packed gym.

The Panthers boys team entered the fourth quarter locked in a 30-30 tie with the Lions after a physical, defensive battle through three periods. Neither team was able to create much separation down the stretch, but Paradise executed in the final moments to secure a narrow 41-40 win. The victory highlighted the Panthers’ composure late in the game as they capitalized on key possessions to outlast Ponder.

The Lady Panthers faced an even tougher challenge, trailing 34-30 heading into the fourth quarter against the Lady Lions. Paradise responded with a strong final period, outscoring Ponder to take a 43-41 lead as time expired. The comeback win capped off an emotional night for the Lady Panthers, who clinched the district championship with the victory.

Both games showcased the Panthers’ resilience and ability to perform under pressure, with clutch plays on both ends of the floor proving to be the difference. The doubleheader sweep strengthened Paradise’s position heading into the final stretch of the season and provided momentum as postseason play approaches.
