Paradise opens defense of its District 4-3A Division I championship Friday on the road at Vernon. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The Panthers are 3-1 and ranked No. 4 in the Class 3A Division I state poll. Vernon is 4-0 after reaching the regional semifinals last season.

Paradise is coming off a 48-7 win over Millsap, rebounding from a loss to Eagle Mountain. The Panther defense held Millsap to 165 yards while the offense is averaging nearly 390 yards per game this season.

Lady Panther volleyball begins the week 21-9 overall and 2-1 in District 10-3A. They hosted Whitesboro on Tuesday and travel to Boyd on Friday. Last week, Paradise split matches with a loss to Ponder and a win over Pilot Point.

The Panther cross country teams compete today in Decatur. At Alvord last week, the girls won the team title, led by Allie McCormick and Taryn Stoltz in first and second place.
