The No. 2-ranked Paradise Panthers are set to begin their playoff run Friday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff in Mineral Wells, where they’ll face Breckenridge in the Class 3A Division I Region I bi-district round.

Paradise enters the postseason at 9-1 overall after winning the District 4-3A championship with a perfect 6-0 record. Breckenridge (4-6) is the fourth seed from District 3-3A.

The Panthers capped their regular season last week with a 41-7 victory over Boyd, which also advanced to the playoffs. Running back Luke Brown led the charge with 111 rushing yards on just eight carries and three touchdowns. The Paradise defense was dominant as well, holding Boyd to under 190 total yards.

On the volleyball court, the Lady Panthers faced a familiar challenge Tuesday night, taking on District 10-3A rival and No. 3-ranked Boyd in the Class 3A Division II Region II championship match. Paradise entered the regional final 31-13 after sweeping Troup in the semifinals last week. Boyd had won both district meetings earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, the Lady Panther basketball team is off to a 2-0 start with wins over Bridgeport and Slidell. Paradise will host Holliday on Saturday.
