Paradise baseball is making history in the Class 3A Division II Region II championship series against Bells.

The Panthers are playing in the deepest postseason round in program history. The best-of-three series opened Wednesday in Prosper. Because both schools are conducting graduation ceremonies, Game 2 is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, with a deciding third game to follow if necessary.

Paradise entered the series with a 31-3 record after sweeping Hooks in the regional semifinals last week by scores of 8-4 and 9-5. Bells came into the matchup at 27-6. The winner will advance to next week’s state semifinals and face either Jacksboro or Wall, the remaining teams in the Region I bracket.

At last week’s UIL Class 3A state track and field meet in Austin, the Paradise boys 4×100 relay team reached the podium with a third-place finish. The 4×200 relay team narrowly missed a medal, placing fourth by 0.18 seconds.

Paradise senior Ady Stoltz also earned a podium finish after placing third in the girls 400 meters, closing out the track season on a strong note.
