Paradise baseball is one win away from continuing its historic postseason run.
The Panthers defeated Bells 4-1 on Wednesday in Prosper in the opener of the Class 3A Division II Region II championship series. Paradise has now advanced further than any baseball team in school history.
Because of graduation ceremonies, Game 2 will not be played until 2 p.m. Saturday. A deciding third game, if necessary, would follow. Paradise improved to 32-3 with the victory and has now won 22 consecutive games.
With one more win, the Panthers would advance to the state semifinals next week against the Region I winner between Jacksboro and Wall. Paradise reached the regional finals after sweeping Hooks 8-4 and 9-5 in the semifinals last week.
At last week’s UIL Class 3A state track and field meet in Austin, the Paradise boys 4×100 relay team earned a third-place finish on the podium. The 4×200 relay team narrowly missed a medal after finishing fourth by 0.18 seconds.
Paradise senior Ady Stoltz also reached the podium by placing third in the girls 400 meters, capping a strong finish to the track season for the Panthers.
