SPRINGTOWN, Texas — One of the state’s top Class 4A matchups is set for tonight as the Porcupines host Graham in Young County. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Newton Field.
Springtown opened the 2025 season with a 30-9 win over Joshua. The Porcupines fell behind 9-0 early but stormed back, scoring the final 30 points behind a balanced rushing attack that produced 230 yards and three touchdowns. Junior quarterback Kane Hill finished with 143 total yards, passing for 91 and rushing for 52, while accounting for two touchdowns — one through the air and one on the ground.
Graham, ranked No. 9 in Class 4A Division II, rallied for a 17-7 win at Midland Christian last week. Springtown won last year’s meeting between the teams, 35-21, at home.
In volleyball, the Lady Pines, ranked No. 14 in the Class 4A poll, earned a statement win Tuesday by sweeping Class 3A power Boyd. They are now 28-5 after going 6-3 at the Legends event in Bryan last weekend. Springtown will face Mansfield tonight.
The Porcupines’ cross country teams are scheduled to run Saturday in Decatur.
