The Pines and Lady Pines basketball teams continue their District 7-4A schedules Friday when they host Castleberry of River Oaks in a doubleheader at home. The Lady Pines will tip off the evening, followed by the boys, as both teams look to move past district losses earlier in the week.

Springtown’s girls dropped a 55-27 decision to Bridgeport on Tuesday, falling to 10-11 overall and 1-3 in district play. The Lady Pines showed improvement coming out of the holiday break, however, with a 45-23 victory over Lake Worth last Saturday following tournament play.

The boys’ team has endured a difficult stretch. Springtown lost to Bridgeport, 51-31, on Tuesday, after falling to Lake Worth, 52-37, last Saturday. The Pines are currently in the midst of a 12-game losing streak as they continue district competition.

On the soccer field, the Lady Pines are off to an outstanding start. Springtown sits at 5-0-1 on the season and is coming off a dominant performance in its own tournament last week, outscoring opponents 24-2. The Lady Pines are idle until Monday, when they travel to Graham.

The boys’ soccer team is hosting its own tournament this weekend and has opened the season at 2-1. Springtown picked up a 1-0 victory over Sanger on Monday.
