The Lady Pines soccer team is battling down the stretch for a postseason berth out of District 8-4A.

Springtown enters Friday’s road match at district leader Lake Dallas sitting in fifth place in district standings, just a half-game behind fourth-place Eagle Mountain. The Lady Pines are 8-6-1 overall and 2-4 in District 8-4A play. They dropped a tough 1-0 decision Tuesday to Lady Knights.

The boys soccer team faces a steep climb to remain in postseason contention. The Pines are 6-8-1 overall and 0-5-1 in district play after a 5-1 loss to Eagle Mountain on Tuesday. Springtown likely needs to win its final four matches to have any chance at reaching the playoffs. The Pines will travel with the Lady Pines to Lake Dallas on Friday.

On the diamond, Springtown baseball is in its second week of the season and competing in the Mineral Wells Tournament through Saturday. The Pines opened the season by going 3-1-1 in a tournament in Kennedale last week.

Lady Pines softball is co-hosting a tournament with Mineral Wells, with play continuing through Saturday. Springtown entered the tournament with a 5-8 record.
