Springtown athletics will remain at the Class 4A Division I level for the next two years, the University Interscholastic League announced Monday. Football and other sports will compete in separate districts.
For football, the Porcupines compete in District 4-4A in Region I, an eight-team district that includes Alvarado, Aubrey, Godley, Carrollton Ranchview, Castleberry, Lake Dallas and Decatur. Head coach Brian Hulett’s program will play a three-game non-district schedule against Brock, Waco Robinson and Brownwood.
Other sports remain in District 7-4A, a seven-team district that includes Bridgeport, Burkburnett, Iowa Park, Lake Worth, Castleberry and Decatur. The new districts take effect in August with the start of volleyball.
Springtown girls basketball, the Lady Pines, face a critical home matchup Friday against Krum. A win is necessary to keep their playoff hopes alive.
