SPRINGTOWN, Texas — It is time to start the season for Pojo football. Everything begins Friday as the Pines look to make another deep postseason run and maybe more.

Fall camp ended last Thursday with the second of two scrimmages, when Springtown faced Mineral Wells.

The opener is at home against Class 5A Joshua, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The Pines are seeking revenge after falling 21-20 to the Owls in Johnson County in 2024. Springtown then won its next 10 games before the season ended in the Class 4A Division I area playoffs.

Junior quarterback Kaine Hill and senior running back Ryan Kirk will lead the offense with another year of varsity experience behind them.

On the volleyball court, the Lady Pines are off to a strong start. They improved to 21-2 after defeating Glen Rose in four sets Tuesday and are ranked No. 3 in the Class 4A state poll. Springtown is competing in the Legends Tournament in Bryan through Saturday.
