Lady Pines softball opens the Class 4A playoffs Friday.

They will face Southwest in the Division I Region I opening round in a one-game playoff. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at home.

The Lady Pines carry a six-game winning streak and are 21-10 overall. They beat Eagle Mountain in the regular-season finale last Friday, 5-3, and topped Paschal in a warmup game Monday, 5-3. Southwest is 13-6.

Pojo baseball hoped to wrap up the District 7-4A title Thursday at home against Decatur.

Springtown won the series opener Monday at Decatur, 4-2. A win would have secured the district title, while a loss would force a seeding game with the Eagles on Saturday. The Pines were 19-5 overall and 11-0 in District 7-4A entering Thursday.

Springtown’s Dixie Crain has qualified for the Class 4A state girls golf tournament after finishing second at the Region I tournament last week in Lubbock with a two-day total of 144.

The state tournament is scheduled for May 4-5 in Austin.

Pojo track will send a large group of athletes to the Class 4A Region I meet next week in Lubbock. The group is led by Pilot Grubis in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and Mariam Kolb in the discus and shot put.
