The Roos and Lady Roos basketball teams are diving into the heart of the District 3-6A season this week, with mixed results in recent games.
The boys Roos are set to host Mansfield Legacy on Tuesday after opening district play Friday with an 81-64 loss at Crowley. Prior to the district opener, Weatherford went 3-1 in the Byron Johnston Tournament in Midland before the New Year’s break. The Roos enter this week with a 16-7 record and will enjoy the first of their two district byes on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Lady Roos also face Mansfield Legacy on Tuesday, looking to climb out of an 0-3 start in District 3-6A. The team comes off a strong showing in the Johnston Tournament, going 3-1 and improving their overall record to 18-6. The Lady Roos will have a district bye Friday.
Soccer is also underway for Weatherford. The Lady Roos kicked off their season over the weekend in San Antonio with a pair of shutout wins and travel to Granbury today. The boys started the season with a 2-0 loss to Ennis Friday and will host Azle Tuesday.
