Another strong performance at the Class 6A Region I cross country meet has Weatherford’s Remington Boone headed back to the UIL state competition this week.
Boone qualified for state by finishing eighth last week at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, crossing the line in 18:20, which is 15 seconds faster than her time at the 2024 state meet. She will compete Saturday morning at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
On the volleyball court, the Lady Roos are returning to the Class 6A playoffs. Competing in the Division II Region I bracket, Weatherford finished the regular season 23-14 overall and 8-4 in District 3-6A, good for third place. The Lady Roos dropped their regular-season finale to Mansfield Lake Ridge last Friday and will open postseason play later this week.
Meanwhile, the Weatherford football team is nearing the end of its season. The Roos are coming off a wild 63-46 loss to Mansfield Lake Ridge last Thursday and sit at 1-7 overall and 0-4 in District 3-6A. They travel to Saginaw Boswell on Friday, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
