A challenging football season for head coach Aubry Sims and the Weatherford Roos came to an end Thursday night with a 55-41 home loss to Mansfield.

The game reflected much of Weatherford’s season, a strong offensive showing overshadowed by defensive struggles. The Roos took a 34-33 lead early in the fourth quarter, but Mansfield immediately answered with a kickoff return for a touchdown and never looked back.

Weatherford’s offense was productive throughout the year, scoring at least 35 points in four of six district games. However, defensive stops were hard to come by. The Roos finished the 2025 season 1-9 overall and 0-6 in District 3-6A. A full season recap will come next week.

On the basketball court, the Lady Roos opened their season Friday with a 46-36 victory over Justin Northwest. They’ll travel to Azle tonight before competing in the Mavs Tournament in Frisco from Thursday through Saturday.
