Weatherford girls’ basketball is off to a stellar start, opening the season 7-1 through the first two weeks. The Lady Roos posted convincing wins last week over Keller Central, 57-38, and Arlington Martin, 44-29. One of their earlier victories came against perennial Class 5A power Mansfield Timberview, a promising sign for a team aiming to apply the lessons learned from last year’s district battles.

It’s a busy start to Thanksgiving week for Weatherford, with a home matchup against Joshua on Monday followed by a road trip to Birdville on Tuesday.

The Weatherford boys are also rolling, opening the season 3-0. The Roos handled Wichita Falls Memorial 66-41 and edged Eagle Mountain 53-48 last week. Their Thanksgiving week is equally full, with a Monday game at Hurst L.D. Bell and a home matchup Tuesday against Cleburne.

In addition, Weatherford wrestling is three weeks into its season and will compete Wednesday at Haslet V.R. Eaton.
