Weatherford sophomore Remington Boone turned in another impressive performance at the UIL Class 6A state cross country meet last Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
Boone finished 18th overall, completing the 5K course in 18:15. She improved her state placement by six spots from 2024, when she finished 24th, and cut 20 seconds off last years’ time of 18:35. Boone will look to build on her success with hopes of making a third straight state appearance in 2026.
On the football field, Weatherford wraps up its 2025 season Friday at home against Mansfield. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Kangaroo Stadium. The Roos enter at 1-8 overall and 0-5 in District 3-6A, while Mansfield comes in 4-5 and 3-2. It will be senior night for the Roos.
Weatherford is coming off another wild contest, falling 44-35 last Friday to Saginaw Boswell. Running back DJ Quimby rushed for 197 yards and four touchdowns, pushing his season total to more than 1,250 yards.
In volleyball, the Lady Roos’ season came to a close last Thursday with a first-round playoff loss to Justin Northwest in the Class 6A Division II Region I bracket. Weatherford finished the season 23-15 overall.
