Weatherford basketball closed out the Granbury Kia Tournament with statement performances on both the boys’ and girls’ sides, showcasing early-season form that has each program trending upward.

The Roos went unbeaten over the weekend, picking up wins over Everman (58–44), Arlington Lamar (46–44) and host Granbury on Saturday. Now 8–1 on the season, Weatherford has demonstrated impressive versatility, winning high-scoring matchups in the 80s as well as grind-it-out contests in the 40s. It’s an encouraging sign for head coach Neal Welch as December play ramps up.

Weatherford travels to Dallas Hillcrest on Tuesday before turning its attention to one of its signature events: the Shottenkirk Classic, which runs Thursday through Saturday.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Roos were equally dominant, winning four games in the Granbury tournament with victories over Euless Trinity, Saginaw, Midlothian and Canyon Randall. Weatherford improved to 13–2 and continues to build momentum behind a balanced and experienced roster.

The Lady Roos visit Abilene on Tuesday, then return home Friday for the District 3-6A opener against Saginaw Boswell, a key early test as league play begins.
